Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vahini
“Teachers are reservoirs from which, through the process of education, students draw the elixir of life.”
-Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba
Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vahini (SSSVV) program was launched on 23rd Nov, 2010 by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba to meet this growing demand of making holistic education accessible for all. It is an open-ended project to harness technology as the key enabler to replicate on a national scale, the success of the model of Integral Education - combining value based education with academic excellence - followed at the university and schools founded by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba and create a generation of well-qualified young men and women, who are filled with a burning desire to serve the motherland, a keen sense of integrity, empathy for their brethren and a serene spiritual discipline.
The guiding principle of Vidya Vahini is to make 'Human Value Based Secular Information' available free to children and to use technology to facilitate greater percolation of educational initiative. The program calls upon the altruistic attitude of enthusiastic volunteers to achieve the dream of ‘Education for All, Education by All’. It is structured to elicit participation from the society to support the development and growth of the teaching community and schools, particularly in the rural India.
Keeping this vision and overarching objective in mind, the project intends to provide holistic learning experience that is Insightful, Inspiring, Enjoyable and Participative(IIEP) with expanded domain of influence from only the Learning Interactions in Classroom to designing appropriate learning space (Corridor), learning culture in the Campus and through Community Outreach (4C’s).
Like other institutions set up by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, SSSVV too, is a volunteer driven organization and takes pride in promoting the sense of volunteerism in the field of education. This is achieved by channelizing the participation of teachers and volunteers towards this self-rewarding service using Information and Communications Technology (ICT) as a key enabler.
As part of Phase 1 of this program implementation, over 100 Sai Schools mostly located in villages or smaller towns across India are supported and are now rapidly expanding to deserving Government and other schools across the county. A systematic and progressive intervention is made in these supported schools to empower the teachers with the needed skill sets, content and motivation to bring about gradual and sustainable changes in the school atmosphere.
Schools are supported with Content, Training and Teaching aids to facilitate holistic learning experience with expanded domain of influence from only the Learning Interactions in Classroom to designing appropriate learning space (Corridor), learning culture in the Campus and through Community Outreach (4C’s) to achieve the following IIEP learning objectives.
To ignite minds with Insightful ideas
To Inspire education with human values
To make the schooling experience Enjoyable
